SAN DIEGO — November 3, 2026. A San Diego television election-night report examined the statewide governor’s race between Democrat Xavier Becerra and Republican Steve Hilton, connecting local voters with campaign developments in West Sacramento, Huntington Beach and Garden Grove.
Two election-night gatherings
The report showed preparations for Becerra’s watch party in West Sacramento, with a significant media presence. Reporters also described Hilton’s planned election-night event in Garden Grove and his final campaign stops in Orange County.
What the candidates emphasized
Becerra has emphasized public-service experience, while Hilton used his final interviews to focus on household costs, taxes and housing affordability. A pre-election UC Berkeley IGS / Los Angeles Times poll cited in the report measured 61% support for Becerra and 34% for Hilton among likely voters. These are survey findings, not votes counted on Election Night.
What San Diego voters should know
California’s governor is elected statewide, so ballots cast in San Diego County contribute to the same statewide total as ballots from Sacramento, Orange County and every other county. Election-night counts are preliminary and can change as additional valid ballots are processed.
