SAN DIEGO — October 26, 2026. Motorists planning late-night northbound trips on I-805 face a temporary change at the connection to northbound State Route 15. Caltrans plans to close the northbound I-805 to northbound SR-15 connector on Monday, October 26, and Tuesday, October 27, each night from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
The agency says the restriction is needed for pavement work. Northbound I-805 drivers can continue to the eastbound I-8 connector and then connect to northbound I-15 or southbound SR-15 as their route requires. That detour is a different movement from the separately announced SR-94 connector work taking place during some of the same nights.
Plan the route before entering the interchange
Drivers carrying deliveries, returning from evening shifts or visiting family should build flexibility into their trip. Although the connector itself is scheduled to close, the Caltrans release does not say that all of I-805 or SR-15 will be closed. Observe the signposted route and leave additional distance from road-maintenance vehicles.
Construction schedules can change with equipment, traffic incidents and weather. Check Caltrans QuickMap just before departure. Source: Caltrans District 11, October 22. This report covers a specific connection in the San Diego freeway network, not a citywide road shutdown.
